July 7th, 2020
Welcome to July EDSS! A quick note to wish everyone a healthy, safe Summer Break. The 2019-20 school year has come and gone and it was a school year like none other. Staff and students found themselves engaged in Distant Learning thrust upon Ontario by the COVID pandemic. Everyone should be proud of successfully working through this new learning experience and completing the academic year.
The cooperation of the EDSS parent community and the many positive interactions that occurred were greatly appreciated as we navigated the unprecedented delivery of learning over the last months of Semester Two. The last days of the semester saw the collection of student resources and provided an opportunity for them to gather their belongings from lockers. This process provided an opportunity to say goodbye to our 2019-20 graduates for those that were able to take part. A 2019-2020 Grad Pennant was presented to graduates accompanied by what was at times a raucous round of celebrating from staff. A photo of graduates, to be added to the yearbook, was quickly taken before graduating students exited the cafeteria and walked the halls as EDSS students one last time.
Many thanks and congratulations to the students that received awards and to the staff that assisted with putting together a number of year-end activities that were shared with students.
A plan for the start of the school year and the 2019-20 Commencement Ceremony will be provided shortly after the details for the September start-up for the 2020-21 school year are announced by the Ministry of Education. Please visit the EDSS website and look for a School Day announcement for more information as it becomes available.
The EDSS School community wishes everyone a safe and restful break from school.
Enjoy your summer holidays.
