Hello parents/guardians of EDSS Lancers!

We hope that you are all enjoying the last week before school! The guidance department will be back in the building starting Monday August 29th. There are a few things we wanted to communicate to help alleviate some confusion and concerns regarding timetables and requests for course changes.

  • Timetables have NOT been released. Students and parents should be checking emails and phone messages to see if a guidance counsellor has attempted contact about a conflict. Timetables will be distributed on the first day of school. Lists will be posted in the school that will direct students to their first period class and they will receive their timetable from their first period teacher.
  • Please note that there is a slight change to the guidance counsellor case loads this year. Our home page on the EDSS guidance website outlines the new alpha case load distribution.
  • We understand that many students are anxious to check out the building before the first day of school. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate any school tours at this time due to the school renovation that will not be completed until the end of next week. Please refer to the maps and videos we have on our guidance website.

Procedure for course change requests:

In the event that a student wants to change a course, students will need to pick up a course change form located just outside the guidance office, get a signature from home then return it to the drop box in the guidance office. Guidance counsellors will reach out to students in priority sequence using the schedule below. Students will receive a guidance appointment slip in their first period class on the day of their appointment. Compulsory courses, courses required for graduation or post secondary plans and level changes will be first priority. Please be advised that elective changes are NOT considered high priority.

Course change requests forms are also available HERE in the event that you want to have it filled out and ready for the first day of school. This form is also available through our guidance google classroom (code: ve4qxkw) and website.
