Region of Waterloo (ROW) Public Health has recently added children with special needs to the priority groups who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.
These include children ages 16 and older with:
- Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities,
- Autism Spectrum Disorder,
- Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder,
- Cerebral Palsy,
- Diagnosis of a Mental Disorder (e.g., Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)).

Additional Highlights of eligibility criteria from the ROW website:
- One essential caregiver for an adult or child with a highest-risk or high-risk health condition who requires support for daily living
- Residents and frontline staff in the following high-risk settings (many of the following groups will be booked directly into mobile clinics), including:
- Developmental services, including supported independent living
- Children’s residential facilities, including group homes and foster homes
- Homes for special care
- Youth justice facilities
