Welcome to the COLLEGE Pathway Page.
You are encouraged to use the resources below as well as MyBlueprint to navigate and learn about the post-secondary option of applying to university.
Students will need to create an OCAS account in order to apply to College. The OCAS site explains very clearly how to apply, states the deadlines and provides how to videos! Applications usually open late September.
- To apply to college you will require certain pre-requisite courses which will include ENG4CI
- Please see www.ontariocolleges.ca to research programs and admission requirements.
- Colleges offer a range of program options – Certificates (short programs), Diplomas (2 or 3 years) and Degrees (4 years), so it is very important to research the detailed requirements for the program you’re interested in.
- You may also have to complete tests, essays or interviews or submit portfolios of work. Take the time to contact the colleges to find out what you need
- One of the tests that may be required is the CASPER test – here is a link to learn more about the test and how to prepare for it
Guidance counsellors offer lunch hour drop in workshops every fall to assist students in setting up their account, researching and answering questions about the college pathway. Students are encouraged to attend these workshops.
