As we enter the third week of the 2021-22 school year some more areas of the school renovation have been completed.  Therefore starting Monday, September 20th students will be able to access identified outdoor areas to eat their lunch, students may leave the school campus to go home or go for a walk during the 40-minute Nutrition Break.

We ask that the distance is considered when students decide to leave the EDSS campus.  A number of retail stores are at least a 15-minute walk away and should not be considered as a viable option to visit and purchase food during the Nutrition Break.  The best practice for students would be to continue to bring food with them when they come to school each day.

Guidelines for students starting Monday, September 20th:

  • Students are to be in their period A or C (depending on the week) classroom or outdoors during the Nutrition Break.
  • Students are not permitted to be in the hallways or visiting other classrooms.
  • Students may eat their lunch in their classroom, clean up after themselves and exit with their belongings outdoors if desired.  We ask that students use the exit closest to them to leave the building.
  • Once students leave the building we are asking that students remain outdoors until the 11:15 am warning bell rings.
  • Students are expected to be back in classes at 11:20 am.  To help us meet the guidelines put forth by Public Health, school doors will be locked starting at 11:20 am to allow school staff to control access to the school.

*Any student returning to school after 11:20 am will have to use the entrance from the Staff Parking lot off of Brubacher Street.*
