Elmira District Secondary School mourns the loss of Joanne Moser

It is with a very heavy heart that the EDSS community mourns the loss of Joanne Moser, she passed away peacefully on January 16th, at Hospice Waterloo, with her family by her side. Joanne joined our staff for the 2010-11 school year and brought her upbeat and positive personality to the EDSS school community.

Joanne supported students and families throughout Elmira and the surrounding townships and these connections lasted for many years.  She was compassionate and caring and these traits served her well in her role as a Child and Youth Worker within the Rural SAL program.  Her genuine, ever-present smile gave her the ability to easily establish a personal rapport and relationship within the EDSS school community and it shall be missed wholeheartedly.

Our thoughts are with the Moser Family.

Along with our Guidance Counsellors and Administrators, members of the Board’s Critical Events Response Team have been consulted to support our students and staff.

In honour of Joanne, the flags at Elmira District Secondary School and the Waterloo Region District School Board will be flown at half-mast this week.

Please check in with your child in the days to come. If you have any concerns about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me via email to discuss support.

Sincerely,

Brad Marsh

Principal
