Important information about the December 7th Blended Learning Day

Blended learning days allow students to engage in synchronous and asynchronous work from home while staff engage in professional learning during the asynchronous portion of the day.  School administration will engage staff in professional learning opportunities around instructional and assessment strategies that support de-streaming and single streaming in secondary schools. 

  • During the morning, secondary teachers will engage in Professional Development to support the expansion of de-streaming and single streaming. . 
  • Blended Learning Days are instructional days, so attendance will be taken. 
  • In the morning, students will participate in asynchronous learning by logging into their class VLE (Virtual Learning Environment = Brightspace or Google Classroom), and complete the work provided by their teachers for all their courses in the afternoon they will be provided with a synchronous session for each course to support the work that was assigned in the morning.
  • A supervised study space will be available in the morning for students who choose an in-person environment at school.
  • Students who choose to attend in person during the PD session will be provided with a supervised study space
  • Students who choose to attend in person in the synchronous portion will rotate through their assigned classrooms
  • ACE students will attend school with regular programming and following regular attendance procedures, optional OT coverage for ACE teachers will be considered at each site.
  • Transportation will run at regular times.

Remote – ASYNCHRONOUS Learning

Students are to log in to their virtual classroom and complete the work provided by their teachers for all of their courses.  

Plan to spend approximately 35 minutes on each course.

1:45 – 2:20 pm


Learning in the afternoon is REMOTE and SYNCHRONOUS.  Students will be expected to be available to meet with their teachers and classes as directed by their teachers.



The remaining blended learning days this year are as follows: Dec. 7, 2022, March 1, 2023, and May 10, 2023.
